Hi Everyone

My name is Jemima but everyone calls me Mima. I was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia on 13th June 2007 and had to spend just over 3 weeks in hospital. I have set up this blog so that I can keep in touch with my friends and keep you up to date with what I am doing.

WE DID IT!!! - THANKS TO ALL OF YOU WHO HAVE SUPPORTED JEMIMA INVITES OVER THE LAST COUPLE OF YEARS, WE HAVE NOW MANAGED TO BEGIN THE RESEARCH WHICH PROFESSOR MARTIN DYER WAS SO DESPERATE TO DO.

Tuesday 27th November 2007

Mima's blood results were very good yesterday so we are off to hospital now to start the next 8 week block of treatment. She will have a general anaesthetic this morning for a bone marrow aspirate and intrathecral methotrexate and start 5 days of steroids today too. Tomorrow she will have a couple of hours of two different types of chemo and on Thursday the asparagus and mayonnaise intramuscular chemo. All in all, quite a large blast of chemo this week to keep those pesky leukaemia cells at bay.

Wait til you hear what I did on Friday

Everyone who gets poorly has the chance to make a wish with a charity called WISHES 4 KIDS and my wish was to go to see Strictly Come Dancing and meet my favourite dancer Lillia. Well you will never guess but my wish was granted on Friday and I went to London on the train to the BBC studios and met Kelly and Brendan, Gethin and Camilla, Kenny and Ola, Matt and Flavia, John and Nicole, Letizia and Darren, Alesha and Matt, James, Vincent, Anton, Ian, Erin and of course Lillia. It was amazing. They were all so friendly just like I had known them for ages. We were the only people there and we watched them all rehearse their group dance and I got to sit in Len Goodman's chair at the judges desk and score the dancers. I had so much fun. I was shown how to work the cameras and listened to the director through headphones whilst they were filming too. John Barnes kept cuddling and kissing me and Kenny Logan held me up in the air like he does with Ola so I felt like I was flying! Lillia was gorgeous and I loved her boots. She is married to Darren and he was really nice too. Well they were all really nice to me actually. They gave me a Strictly Come Dancing Annual and everyone signed it and wrote a special message for me. I will show you all when I see you. We went to London with Wendy from Wishes 4 Kids and she was really really nice to me too.

Happy Birthday Hattie Wheeler!!!
I went to school for half a day on Thursday and all day Friday so I was very tired but my Auntie Rita came to visit me from Mallorca and it was really good to see her. When I was in hospital last week I designed and made lots of pairs of shoes and matching handbags and Auntie Rita bought two bags and the matching shoes from me because she liked them so much.
I woke up on Saturday feeling not very good but then I had a really good day. I had a riding lesson first and then I met Hattie Merriman's new pony Peg who is gorgeous. He really loved being brushed with my new kit from my friends and I loved riding him across the fields. Then I went to watch my sister Emily in her dance show which was fantastic. I have never watched it before as I have always been in it so it was great to see the show and to see so many of my dancing friends too.
We had a very lazy day on Sunday as Emily and I were really tired and then we went out for lunch with Uncle Matt, Auntie Tan, Tom and Molly and had a great time. When we were driving home we couldn't believe it, there was a snow blizzard all the way home and now the ground is completely white. Digby doesn't know what to do, he keeps barking at the snow!
I am going to school tomorrow and have a blood test at school on Tuesday but no more chemo until the next Tuesday so I am looking forward to feeling really well for a few days now.

Wednesday 14th November 2007

I made it home late last night after my last lot of antibiotics.
I was shattered this morning and went back to sleep until lunchtime then I went up to Granny and Papa's and my Papa cooked me some yummy pasta for my lunch and I had 3 chocolate flakes for pudding!!!
Mummy and I went to Market Harborough for some fresh air and I helped Daddy in the office for a couple of hours this afternoon. That was great fun and really good to be out and about.
I have a two week break from chemo now so I can recover from the last 9 weeks and then I will start a new block at the end of November for another 9 weeks.
I might go to school tomorrow as I really miss all my friends and we have exams next week so I need to learn a bit more. I have only been to school for 1 day since half term!
Night Night.

Great Weekend - not!!!
I came in to hospital for a check up on Friday and guess what???? well my temperature started to go up, I had the shivers and my eyes were all sore and red. That was as well as all the other soreness and I have been here since then. We have been all over the place though because the ward had to close on Friday night as there is a sick bug going around the hospital and there are no staff so we went to Ward 14. It was horrible there and I was in isolation because of the other bugs on the ward so I couldn't leave my room from Friday night until this morning. Boring boring boring.
Anyway, I am on two antibiotics, two antivirals, anti sickness, morphine, lactulose and now eyedrops and I had a blood transfusion yesterday so I hope I will soon feel better.
I will be here for a couple of days at least so if you would like to visit that would be good.
Byeeeeee!

I feel yuk!
I am not having a very good week so far because I feel really yuk! My head hurts, my tummy hurts, my throat hurts and I don't feel like doing anything.
I am going back to hospital tomorrow for a check up and blood test before some more chemo on Monday. I don't want any more because it will make me feel horrid again.
I am going back to sleep now.

Friday 2nd November 2007

I am really well at the moment. I have been very busy with half term and school which is why I haven't written on my blog. sorry!!!
I had some chemo into my spine yesterday and as that could make me have a seizure Dr Madi thought it would be a good idea to stay in hospital. Then today I am allowed out for lunch and then I am going back for some IV chemo this afternoon which could also make me have a seizure so I am staying in hospital again tonight. Just in case.
I am really excited about going to riding tomorrow because Debbie has moved me and Emily up one level so we can learn some new things now. Good luck Mike with your hack, just hold on tight and sit up straight and you will be fine!
I am also very excited because I am going for lunch at my favourite restaurant tomorrow. It is called Boboli in Kibworth and Sarah (she owns it) is going to look after us! Then we are going to the Murrays for a bonfire party tomorrow night which I can't wait for. Then on Sunday my Auntie Nic Nocs is going to cook Sunday lunch for us so that will be yummy scrum scrum.
