Hi Everyone

My name is Jemima but everyone calls me Mima. I was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia on 13th June 2007 and had to spend just over 3 weeks in hospital. I have set up this blog so that I can keep in touch with my friends and keep you up to date with what I am doing.

WE DID IT!!! - THANKS TO ALL OF YOU WHO HAVE SUPPORTED JEMIMA INVITES OVER THE LAST COUPLE OF YEARS, WE HAVE NOW MANAGED TO BEGIN THE RESEARCH WHICH PROFESSOR MARTIN DYER WAS SO DESPERATE TO DO.

Thursday 30th October 2008

Well, I have had the MRI and that was horrible. They had to give me some contrast to see different things on the scan so I had my port needle left in in the morning but then they said I couldn't have it in because the magnet of the MRI would pull it out. So Katie had to take that out and then a doctor had to put a cannula in my hand and I really really hate that, it hurt so much because they didn't let the numbing cream work for long enough! Anyway, before all that I saw a very nice man who specialises in eyes and he said that I do not have a bleed in my eye (which the optician thought I did) but that I do need to wear glasses for looking at the board at school and watching TV so we are going today to see if we can find some nice glasses for me. (tee hee hee!!!) I will put a picture on the blog of me in the glasses when I get them.
I know alot of post pals read my blog too so I would like to say thank you very much to everyone who sends me and Emily cards, letters and parcels. We love it when Daddy comes home from work with post for us, it is so exciting!

To Mima, Poor you having that horrible MRI scan. I have had one but it was not as bad as yours was today. Did you listen to some nice music whilst you were in there? Scooby is not a happy chappy because we have just taken him to the vets tho I think he got off lightly compared to you. He is upstairs at the moment getting over his experience though I bet by tomorrow he will have forgotten about it.
So you've got to wear glasses have you? I'm sure you will get nice ones and you will look lovely. I was about your age when I got my first pair of glasses. I'll love to see a pic when you have them. Are you going to see any fireworks? Enjoy your last day of the school holidays tomorrow. Thinking of you and lots of love Kathryn xXx

Well you are having a busy up and down kind of half term.

I bet the glasses will look lovely. I think you feel a bit strange at first, because you feel different, but if you put a picture on your blog, everyone can see what you look like and we will all be used to them. Millie and Edward have glasses for TV and for the board. Millie has got some georgeous purple ones.
Lets hope tomorrow is fun and that you have a Spooky (but not too Scary) Halloween!

Love The Greenlees.

Hi Mima,
It's nice to read that you are feeling better. I used to wear glasses (and should still do!) when I was at school too. I bet it is nice to have the MRI out of the way, did you listen to some music whilst you were in there? Thomas had to be put to sleep so that he didn't wriggle around too much. I have also had one, I found it quite scary being in the tunnel for so long.
I hope the results are good, we are all keeping our fingers x.
It was Thomas' 4th birthday last Friday, so I have had a weekend of baking. We had Henry and Alice for tea on Saturday. Isn't Alice just the sweetest thing!!
Looking forward to seeing your glasses on here, make sure they are a cool pair!!
Are you and Emily going to a fireworks party??
Lots of love venetia XXX

Hi Mima,
Hope it's OK back at school after such a lovely long half term holiday. Sorry we missed you yesterday - hope you had a good lunch out and THANK YOU so much for the cake - Tom wants you to put December 2nd in your diary as he has never had such a good birthday cake! Shall I remind you nearer the time???!!
Anyway lots of love to you from all the Jemma Effs xxx

well at least the MRI is behind you.You really do have some interesting experiences.
I also wear glasses but just for reading and things like that. I can see things in the distance but not close to me.I just got new ones. There are some lovely frames to choose from.My optician says she thinks of them as jewelry for the face.
Looking forward to seeing the photograph of you in your glasses.I know you are going to look great.I think glasses can make a person look very clever. Like Harry Potter.
Hope you enjoy some fireworks tonight.
Always thinking of you
Love Sue

Hi Mima

You really are so brave - all those needles and tubes - I have to close my eyes and think of something else when any doctor comes anywhere near me with them.

Hope you find some nice specs but you have to remember where you put them down or you'll never find them....or is that just because I'm getting old!!! I'm sure you will look lovely in them and there really are some great frames now.

lots of love, Helenxxxxx
