Hi Everyone

My name is Jemima but everyone calls me Mima. I was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia on 13th June 2007 and had to spend just over 3 weeks in hospital. I have set up this blog so that I can keep in touch with my friends and keep you up to date with what I am doing.

WE DID IT!!! - THANKS TO ALL OF YOU WHO HAVE SUPPORTED JEMIMA INVITES OVER THE LAST COUPLE OF YEARS, WE HAVE NOW MANAGED TO BEGIN THE RESEARCH WHICH PROFESSOR MARTIN DYER WAS SO DESPERATE TO DO.

Wednesday 28th May 2008

Let's celebrate!
Today, I had my last asparagus and mayonnaise into my leg!!! Yippeeeeee!!! It only hurt a little bit and I was very brave. I had 2 Rosie nurses with me and Helen play specialist and Mummy so I didn't really have time to think about it. I also had some vin and christine today into my line but then had a bit of a dizzy spell afterwards so had to lie down for a bit. My throat is very sore so the doctor had a look at me. We have to be very careful now because I don't have many neutrophils (0.5) and my platelets are very low too (35). I had 2 bags of blood on Sunday so my hb is up from 7 to 9 which is just about ok. We saw Dr Madi this morning too and he said if I have even the slightest temperature, so anything over 37, that I have to go straight in to hospital. I really don't feel fantastic so I hope a good nights sleep will make me better.
Mummy and I did a spot of shopping today because Emily went to play with her friend Lucy. We bought a few things for Louis because he is going in to isolation on Sunday and we are going to see him in Birmingham on Friday if I feel ok. He has had lots of radiotherapy and is very sleepy so I hope he is awake when we go!
I have 2 friends, Georgia and Freya to play tomorrow because Rosemary play specialist is coming and we are going to play a game which will help my friends understand how I feel when I am not able to join in and do things. It is a really good game which my friend Lucy who also has ALL designed with Rosemary, so I hope we will have some fun.

I have a cat her name is Tia. She is very spoilt. She gets very upset when I am sitting at my laptop and not giving her any attention.Well right now as I was typing this comment she jumped on the table and gave a very lound miaow. She is very jealous and so bad mannered.I am sure Digby is not so badly behaved.

Hello Mima! CoNgRaTuLaTiOnS on finishing your asparagus and mayonaise - your must be sooooo pleased; I am pleased for you! It is very kind of you to buy somethings for your friend Louis, did you buy anything for yourself?! Hope you have a nice time today with your friends and your tempreture doesn't go up so that you have to go back to the hospital again. I've been wondering about you the past few days and hoping that your having a good time - I forgot it's half term... hope your having a nice week off school. Look after yourself, lots of love Kathryn xXx
P.S. I don't know whether you are going to that craft thing at Holbrook Hall? If you are not, don't worry but if you are me and my mum are going to pop in to have a look round (I love crafty things) so if your there I wonder if you can guess who I am?!!

Mima, so glad you are finished with the injections, how horrible they sounded, but done with them now.
I hope you have a good play with your friends and are feeling well enough to visit Louis.
It has been a horrible half term for bad weather, but I have been busy at work and am hoping the sun comes out soon or none of my plants will grow any flowers or vegetables!
I have a family of blue tits in the nest box in my garden, they are so cute :_

Hi Mima!
It's Sarah here!! I am so sorry that I have been out of touch for so long... those pesky restaurants are keeping me very busy!!
I have to thank you... you sent me a lovely lady, Tabitha? and her friends.. she said you told her we serve the best Pizzas, so she came, you are sweet to recommend us!
I am surrounded at the moment by lots of very noisy girls.. It's Lucia's birthday party, and she has a sleep over!! What is it about sleep overs? No one gets any sleep!!
We had a very exciting trip a few weeks ago, we went to Buckingham Palace and met The Queen.. even I was stunned into silence, hard to believe I know!!
Anyway, I just wanted to say, that I still visit your site and love to keep up with your news, I cannot believe that you have finally finished with those injections.. you still sound so bright, reading your entries you seem to be more bright than "cross".
We do hope that you continue to make progress Mima.. give our love to Emily, mummy and daddy

HI MIMA,
SORRY I HAVN'T WROTE ON YOUR BLOG THIS WEEK, I'VE BEEN IN MY CARAVAN UNTIL TODAY!
HOW ARE YOU FEELING NOW? I HOPE YOU HAVN'T HAD ANY MORE DIZZY SPELLS AND YOUR SORE THROAT HAS CLEARED UP?
I'VE BEEN THINKING OF YOUR LITTLE FRIEND LOUIS TODAY AS HE GOES INTO ISOLATION, I'M SURE HE'L BE FINE, ESPECIALLY HAS HE HAS A FEW GOODIES THAT YOU'VE BOUGHT FOR HIM.
I HAD TO HAVE MY LEG LOOKED AT TODAY AS I'VE HAD A NASTY BITE ON MY KNEE WHILE WE WERE AWAY IN THE CARAVAN, WHICH HAS GOT INFECTED AND IS REALLY RED AND INFLAMED! THE NURSE SAID SHE THINKS ITS A "HORSEFLY BITE" ??!! WHATEVER IT IS, I DON'T LIKE IT AS IT'S BURNING HOT, I HAVE A BLACK FELT PEN RING AROUND MY KNEE, AND HAVE TO SEE MY GP IF THE REDNESS GOES BEYOND THE RING! (AND IT HAS TONIGHT) BUT I'LL SEE HOW IT IS IN THE MORNING!
ANYWAY, I HOPE YOU HAD FUN WITH YOUR PLAY SPECIALIST, AND IM SURE YOUR FRIENDS WILL UNDERSTAND WHEN YOU'RE UNABLE TO JOIN IN WITH THEIR GAMES AND THINGS.
KEEP SMILING MIMA,
TAKE CARE,
LOTSA LUV,
MAX
