Hi Everyone

My name is Jemima but everyone calls me Mima. I was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia on 13th June 2007 and had to spend just over 3 weeks in hospital. I have set up this blog so that I can keep in touch with my friends and keep you up to date with what I am doing.

WE DID IT!!! - THANKS TO ALL OF YOU WHO HAVE SUPPORTED JEMIMA INVITES OVER THE LAST COUPLE OF YEARS, WE HAVE NOW MANAGED TO BEGIN THE RESEARCH WHICH PROFESSOR MARTIN DYER WAS SO DESPERATE TO DO.

SUNDAY 13TH APRIL 2008

I am not very happy or chatty because I am on steroids. I have no energy and I feel like crying all the time. On the weekends I have to take sooooo many pills in the morning and the same at night time and I don't like it at all. My ankles and feet are very sore too and I think I have got arthritis.
I just wanted to say Hello to Ruby who is in isolation as she has shingles. I hope you feel better soon Ruby and you can go and feed Butterscoth a lovely juicy carrot. I am pleased you liked my painting on the window on Ward 14. I think we should all have a small sticker that we can put on the window in whichever room we have stayed in so we all know who has been there. I could be a pony and you could be a butterfly or something. What do you think? I asked Mum if I could go on your Daddy's motorbike but she had kittens so I guess that is a no! Good idea though.
Thank you to everyone else who has left me messages. It is very kind of you.
I am going back to school tomorrow but my first thing is a blood test at 9 o'clock whilst everyone else does PE. Next is Drama which I really love so the nurse has to be finished by 9.20am or I will miss it. Then in the afternoon is double art. I don't know what I will do then with just my left hand. Oh dear, now I am all grumpy again.
Night night.

OH PLEASE DON'T BE SAD MIMA, I'M SURE YOU WILL FEEL BETTER SOON ENOUGH (SO EASY FOR ME TO SAY!) I THINK IT'S A GREAT IDEA ABOUT PUTTING A STICKER ON EACH ROOM YOU HAVE BEEN IN AT THE HOSPITAL.
I HOPE YOU HAVE A GOOD DAY AT SCHOOL TOMORROW, AND YOU MANAGE TO DO ART OK.
I HAVE TO GO AND COOK A CHINESE CHICKEN & MUSHROOM CURRY NOW AS WE HAVE SOME FRIENDS COMING ROUND FOR DINNER.
TAKE CARE MIMA,
LOTSA LUV,
MAX.

Hi Mimes, those horrid steroids are to blame, we all know inside the real Mima is funny & sunny and will soon be back with her smiley face. I will ask Fifi to make you laugh tomorrow - just popped up to say goodnight and she has put a Horrid Henry joke book in her school bag. Mark wants to know how your daddy's fingers is? Hi Mima, how wretched those steroids are, we have been thinking of you this week. Hamish loved seeing you on Monday - I hope he's not going to take up riding now!!! I hope your feeling a little better tomorrow and enjoy your drama and art lessons. I'm sure you will be smiling again soon. Lots of love The Merrimans. xxxxxxxxx

Hi Mima, what a wonderful website you have. Bethany knows exactly how you feel on those wretched steroids. In fact she will often say on climbing the stairs 'my knees feel as if i am an old lady, have i got arthritis?'
Anyway Beth and I count the days down when on steroids to when she will feel better and back to doing all the good things.
Keep smiling love the Mickleburgh's

Hi Mima, poor you, what a tough time you are having at the moment, hopefully you will start to feel better soon.
Are you still able to go to the stables to help groom and look after the ponies there? I hope so, but it must be hard as i know how much you love it. You will have to teach Digby to jump around the garden, I use to do it with my dog when I was younger.
Hope that you made it to drama this morning and thinking of you lots. Love to Mum, Dad and Emily too. All my love Venetia XX

Thinking of you all the time but especially when you are having a bad patch.

Hi Mima,
I'm so sorry you're feeling grumpy but you are allowed to now and then and I know that it won't last with you as the happy, bouncy Mima we all know and love will push the grumpy one into touch - just like Daddy playing rugby on Saturday! I hope you were proud of him and that he wasn't too poorly and sore on sunday... (I'm sure his head was a bit sore but we don't need to feel sorry for him for that do we?)I hope school was OK yesterday and you got to drama - and that it cheered you up a bit. We'll see you very soon and all send lots of love,
Jemma Ef and the boys xx

Hi Mima! How are you feeling today? How was school yesterday? I hope you didn't miss drama! Scooby is in a very bad mood today because he thinks I'm starving him - he's getting a bit podgy you see and the vet said he needs to go on a diet. Goodness knows how he would cope if he had to be nil by mouth!
I'm not very medical myself but hopefully you won't have to have the steroids for long and I know it must be hard to see it sometimes but it'll all be worth it in the end.
Lots of love to you Mima, Kathryn xXx

Good to see you both (and that smile) again the other day. Ruby doesn't talk much in Hospital so she gets a sticker on her chart at the end of the day if she speaks to someone. When I did her chart with her that evening I told her she could not have a sticker as she did not speak to the nurses (well they did stick a big needle in her leg!) She quickly pointed out that she had spoken to Polly!
Lewis was right by the way, Rachel does do a good PEG. Have you thought of a celebration when your last one gets done soon?
Anyway, hope the DOX does not effect you too badly and that Mr Kershaw sorts that cast out.
See you soon.
Tim

Hi Mimes,
Sorry to read that you feel so grotty. I know it's really tough but you have done so well in coping with all your treatments so far, sometimes it is not such a bad thing to go through a cross phase. You are being tested to the limit at the moment and we all think you, Mummy, Daddy and Emily are fantastic but of course there are times when you are all very fed up.
Henry has had chicken pox but only very mildly and is over it now, we are just waiting for Alice's spots. We won't be visiting for a little while but we think of you often.
Big kiss, Helena x

Hi Mima Great to see you yesterday. Sorry to hear you had to stay in hospital overnight last night. Hope the pain in your leg is a little better today and you can go home. Mind you this weather is miserable. It was not like this in Australia. Hope you liked my dress and shoes - I'm going on a diet tomorrow to get into it!! Daisy & Archie send you lots of love and they were sad to hear you were not feeling great. Speak soon. Think your website looks really cool. lots of love Auntie Jax
