Hi Everyone

My name is Jemima but everyone calls me Mima. I was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia on 13th June 2007 and had to spend just over 3 weeks in hospital. I have set up this blog so that I can keep in touch with my friends and keep you up to date with what I am doing.

WE DID IT!!! - THANKS TO ALL OF YOU WHO HAVE SUPPORTED JEMIMA INVITES OVER THE LAST COUPLE OF YEARS, WE HAVE NOW MANAGED TO BEGIN THE RESEARCH WHICH PROFESSOR MARTIN DYER WAS SO DESPERATE TO DO.

Wednesday 3rd October 2007

Mima is not such a happy bunny today. She had her NG tube fitted yesterday whilst under general anaesthetic along with a couple of other procedures and woke up very upset and tried to pull the tube out. Her throat is very sore and her nose tickly so she is not speaking at the moment. She met Benjamin in hospital who had a NG tube too and he very kindly explained to her that he felt exactly the same as she did but after a few days he was much better.

She also had some bone marrow taken from the back of her pelvis yesterday which will be looked at to see if there are any leukaemia cells lurking. These results will tell us if she is still in remission.

We are back to the hospital this afternoon for a couple of doses of chemo and then again tomorrow for an intra muscular chemo injection. (the one Mima calls asparagus and mayonnaise)

Mima will be lying low for a few days I imagine but I am sure it won't take her long to get back to her old self. She may make it back to school on Friday - we'll see.

Thank you everyone for your wonderful messages. We all love reading them, but most particularly Mima enjoys knowing that people are thinking about her all the time.

We cannot believe how brave you are and we never see a picture of you without that lovely smile we all remember so well.I wiil make sure that a large stock of chocolate croissants will be on standby next time I see you here
All our love and keep practising on the violin even if you drive everyone mad within the square mile around you. We will write again soon.

Jemima,
Keep your chin up. I have known your Mummy and Daddy for many years, and if you have just some of their determination and fight, you will be fine again soon, and be able to look back on what has been a tough time for you.
I am sure your tubes, injections, medecines etc seem so unfair, and you just wish you didn't have to take them any more. I am sure your wish will be granted before you know it, and you will be able to get back on with your young happy life.
Many older people who read your blog are saddened by seeing someone so young and happy having to go through such a tough ordeal, but I think you are actually an inspiration to these same people, as you have shown what true courage and determination can achieve.
Please keep it up, and don't let it get you down too much. SO many people are thinking of you day and night, so whenever you have small moments of sadness (which I am sure you have plenty), I hope you will be able to remember that all of us are thinking of you during that time, and willing you to get better. You may even be able to hear us wishing if you listen really carefully!
Hope to see you soon, hopefully at The Gelateria Capri...yum yum! Two scoops please.
Your 'Lacau' friend

Hi Mima - have you made it to school today. We so hope you have - we have been saying a little prayer for you at bedtime. We had a French day yesterday where we all had to dress in red, white & blue. We designed T-shirts, talked in French (all day!!) and ate crepes for lunch. Hope you are feeling a bit better than you did earlier in the week - we are so looking forward to seeing your smiley face again. Let us know how you are doing - we keep looking every day when we get back from school. Say hi to Emily. Love Daisy & Archie xx

Your daddy told me you're not feeling very well at the moment. We want you to know that we're thinking of you and in a few days time you'll be feeling a lot better and be able to go back to school and do some more riding
Lots of love

PS I used to play the violin. I'll give you a demo next time I see you

Hello Mima,
We are really sorry that this tube is giving you trouble. It must be so difficult getting used to the feeling of it, but maybe soon you will begin to forget it's there. We would love to see any of you if you feel like a quick cup of tea on your way to or from the hospital. I have a secret stash of treats and there maybe something to tempt you Mima.
Big kisses to you all
Helena, Tom, Henry and Alice xxxx

Watcha Gorgeous!!
I saw Emily and your dad today. Emily said she didn't feel stiff after last Sunday's run, which just goes to proove how completely un-fit I am!! I had a keep fit class on Monday, yes, the next day, and I kpet letting out little yelps through out the class... how un-fit!!??
Anyway, really truly we are so sad to hear that you haveing a bd time of it this week, it seems so unfair, especially when you looked so radient on Sunday.
We are in no doubt that that wonderful fighting spirit of yours will over come the problems of this weeek, and bring you in strong amd smiling next week, or as soom as.
You are a remakable young lady Jemima, and you are inspiring us all, young and old.
Our prayers, and love and hugest bestest wishes are with you.
God Bless you lovely Mima,
With love Sarah xxx and Lino and the girls too!

Mima, You are an amazing person, now use some of that amazing stuff to beat the tube, and not let it bother you. Actually not having to spend time eating meals and taking meds means you will have more time to write blogs for all of us doesn't it ?!! Go on Mima ! Lots of love U.S. xxxxx
